Camping holiday

Established in 1970 the WVDC Charity was set up to provide a holiday for disabled, ill or disadvantaged children aged between 11 and 16, whilst also allowing for some all important respite for those who care for them.

Another long ago camp

History

Set up by Bill & Joan Puddy who, having had 9 healthy children, wanted to give something back to the world!

Following a visit to a school for physically disabled children and a chat with the head teacher, Bill was made aware of the therapeutic benefits and positive impact that horses can provide to young people with physical & mental disabilities.

Owning a riding stables, Bill realised he was in a position to make a difference and the idea of ‘Kids Camp’ was born!  Soon after in 1970, the idea was brought to life and the first camp was not only held but was a roaring success!

Since its fruition the camp has been reliant on the generosity of donations from its friends and supporters to keep going. Every year since 1970 a number of events, raffles and donations have been continually held and we are grateful to everyone for their efforts to keep this wonderful week alive!

In the current day WVDCC continues to arrange a truly unique experience where our holiday kids spend a week of their summer filled with music, days out and various activities all under canvas in a field in Wiltshire
