Governance

The Wylye Valley Disabled Children’s Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, whose Charity Commission registration number is 1171356.  Further information is obtainable from the Charity Commission website here.

The Trustees of the charity are responsible for its governance and meet regularly to discharge this responsibility.

Our charitable object is the relief of disabled, ill or disadvantaged children by assisting in the provision of facilities for riding and other activities, in particular, but not exclusively by providing an annual riding camp to benefit their health and well-being.

As a registered charity we must abide by charity law and the legal requirements that govern our activities and prescribe the standards of governance and risk management we must meet including those relating to safeguarding, volunteer selection, fire risk, health & safety, data protection and financial control.

We also seek to adopt best practice in everything we do consistent with the resources available to us.

The charity has drawn up a comprehensive list of policies and procedures, including detailed risk assessments, that are reviewed annually to ensure that the latest requirements and best practices are met. The implementation and operation of the majority of these being the responsibility of the volunteer run Camp Committee that recruits for, organises and runs the Annual Camp.
